First Projects ~ Cont'd

Here is another card that I just recently did. My son Sam was in 4 year old preschool this past school year, and I made thank you cards for his teacher and the 3 associates that worked with him. I saw this card in the May 2011 issue of Card Maker Magazine.

The stamps are from a set called 'School Notes', and I purchased them at Our Craft Lounge. I stamped and colored the pencil and apple on a separate piece of cardstock, and colored them with Prismacolor pencils and OSM. I stamped the 'A+' on the white cardstock, and attached the pencil and apple with pop dots. I used the petite scalloped circle die, and the dots around the perimeter of the white cardstock was made with the Sakura black Glossy 3-D glaze pen.

First Projects

Well, I've finally been able to do some editing on the pictures of my cards. I haven't taken the time to create an appropriate backdrop for picture taking after I've created my card. I've been using my scrapbooking software to smudge out the background of my photos.

Here is my first card:

I saw a card just like this in the Spring 2011 issue of Paper Creations Magazine and just fell in love with it. The stamp is called 'Birthday Princess' and it's from the Pure Innocence line of stamps that can be purchased from the My Favorite Things website. MFT also has some awesome dies called Die-Namics, and I used the Ric-Rac border.

The magazine version had different papers, and had more sewing. I used the paper and cardstock that I had on hand. As far as the sewing, I attempted to use the Sew Easy line of products, but admittedly really didn't care for them. Maybe I was doing it incorrectly, but I was using so much pressure to poke through the paper that I ended up curling my project. I eventually purchased a small sewing machine, and am really tempted to try making this card again because that works so much better for me.

Well, my son is wanting to go do something so I'd better get going.

Getting Started

Hey There!
Welcome to my new blog! I've just recently become a fan of paper crafting, and I'd like to share with you my attempts, regardless if they're failures or successes. The good ones I'd like to sell. The others...well, they'll help me learn what does and doesn't work.
